Do you know the difference between HPHT, CVD , and AS GROWN CVD? Are you aware how the different growth processes used to produce lab grown diamonds impact those diamonds? Here are some of the differences between growth processes.
HPHT
- Graphite Diamond Seed used.
- May contain post-growth treatment
- May be present: Fluorescence, colour tinge(s), uneven colour, metallic residue
- Almost always will be a TypeIb diamond
- Possible to be magnetic
CVD TYPEIIa
- TypeIIa diamond seed used.
- May contain post-growth treatment
- Purest form of Diamond (best performing Type of diamond)
- Will always be a TypeIIa diamond
- Not magnetic
AS GROWN CVD TYPEIIa
- TypeIIa diamond seed used.
- NO post-growth treatment
- Purest form of Diamond (best performing Type of diamond)
- Will always be a TypeIIa diamond
- Not magnetic
- NO post-growth treatments at all
- This is the rarest and most sought after Lab Grown diamond
Diamond Type can heavily influence the way the diamond looks and performs.
Diamond type is the method of scientifically classifying diamonds by the level and type of their chemical impurities. It is accepted fact that TypeIIa is the best type of diamond, and is the type with the least amount of (chemical) impurities. As such TypeIIa diamonds are the best performing type of diamond.
